We had a fabulous Thanksgiving, celebrating with both sides of our family. I could not be more thankful!

We hope you all had a great one, too!
Loving Uncle Jim!

Aunt Nancy and Kayli... our big girl!

Grandpa Steve made a GREAT dinner!!!

She had turkey, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, stuffing and peas!

Our little fam

Love you, Caden!

Caden and Emmy, my big babies!

YAY for Thanksgiving!!!

9 Months Old!

My Dear LiLi, at Nine Months, you...

-Weigh in at just over 16 pounds. We have your nine month appointment next week, and I am excited to see how you land on the charts. You are still tiny, but eat SO MUCH!

- Squeal with delight over the Hokey Pokey, Baby Beluga, Peek-a-Boo, your duckie and fish stuffed animals, having your tummy tickled and people crawling for you. Yup, still not over the sound of your giggle.

- Eat four liquid meals a day (still nursing great), and three solids. You still love avocado, yogurt, cottage cheese, plums, bananas, and cheese, and you have some new favs in quinoa and whole peas. You are an amazing eater and reject nothing! You are doing a good job of picking up some finger foods, like pasta, whole wheat pancakes, and your peas! I have been having fun making some new stuff, like lasagna and pancakes, special for you.

- Fit beautifully in 9 month clothes. It has been fun shopping for you!

- Make all kinds of funny noises now. You say "Mo mo mo" when you eat, "NaNaNa" all the time, squeal like a hyena when you get bored, and, our personal favorite, "Gak"- all the time! It is hilarious! You are starting to really imitate sounds now, and this has been a lot of fun. When we laugh, you laugh back.

- You have learned how to clap when we say "yay", and we are working on waving bye bye. Your face lights up when you do it.

- Still don't crawl, but you drag yourself around in an army crawl all over the place! You are getting really fast, and we can't turn our backs for a second. Every particle of anything on the floor is yours for the taking. You stand like a champ on furniture, and you are starting to cruise around a bit when you see something you want.

- Adore your grandparents. You start giggling and squealing when you see your Nonni. So cute!!!

- Have some pretty major stranger anxiety much of the time. Sometimes, you are fine going to new people,a nd sometimes you freak.

-Speaking of freaking, you have the cutest pout ever!

- Are a stinker on your charging table. We have to give you something to play with to keep you occupied, or else you are squirming everywhere, making wrangling on a diaper, let alone clothes,  near impossible.

- Had your first Thanksgiving meal, complete with stuffing, turkey, potatoes, peas, and sweet potatoes. You loved it all and gobbled it up. On to Christmas!

- Sleep like a maniac, still. You sleep 12-13 hours when you can, and take 2-3 naps a day. Sucking your thumb is still the first sure fire sign you are ready to go down. You sleep way more than the average baby, according to other moms and books. I think it is cause you are so busy when you are awake!

- Still love to chew on things, especially your shoes (ew) and books. Everything goes right in the mouth with you, little girl.

- Have so many nicknames. You poor thing- we are probably confusing you! We call you Smushie, Mini, Sweetie Peety, and a few other goofy names. You know your name is Leah and LiLi, though, and turn your head when we call you.

- Love sitting in highchairs, shopping, watching big kids, wind in your face, walks, the bath, car rides, your vitamins, scooting around and investigating, books (mostly cause you like to eat them), helping me in the kitchen, and standing.

Trying to get away before we even started. So typical these days...

Time is FLYING.

Huh?

So big!

Joy

This was my pure joy moment of this week.... maybe even this month.
Per usual, I got annoyed as we tried to make the lights perfect and had to talk myself out of being anal about the tree. My patient and sweet husband got irritated with me more than once as I directed and controlled the lights. We did all of this as our little Love took her LONG morning nap... then we woke her up and brought her down to a Christmas scene. I have always been a Christmas nerd, but seeing my daughter's face light up as she saw the tree for the first time is a memory now etched in my mind for all of eternity.
We then gave her the ornament we got her with all of her "Firsts" on it, and she got so excited to touch the tree and seethe lights. Sometimes, there is no need for perfection, just a need for happiness, and finding joy and love in the daily things.

I have never known JOY like this. Leah Joy, you make everything more fun.

I still owe you  your 9 month letter, but, man, oh man, I had to post this. We had an amazing day!

Merry Christmas season to all of you!!!!

100 Things to be greatful for

I have a student who is always crabby about SOMETHING. He is consistently complaining, and I am having a hard time getting through to him that there is always something good about each and every day, and that he should eb thankful for what he DOES have not sad about what he doesn't. I asked him to think of 10 things he is grateful for for Thanksgiving, just to help him see all the good around him. He did, and then challenged me to think of 100. 11 years later

This week marks the 11 year anniversary of the day Paul and I became "officially" a couple (after many months of not-so-officially kinda-sorta dating). See, I knew within a month of meeting this man at the ripe old age of 18 that I was going to spend my life with him. I am not sure how or why, but I could feel it in my bones. He was it, and I knew it.I felt like I had known him all of my life, and I knew we had met for a reason. We have now been together for 11 years, married for 6 and a half, and are now happier than ever.
My husband is, hands down, the best person I know. To live with someone and share a life with them for years, and to truly be able to say that is a blessing. Is Paul perfect? Far from it. Is he perfect for ME? Heck yes. He is a man with a genuine loving heart. He loves hard, gives his all in everything he does, and is the most trusting, responsible, caring person I have ever met. This man of mine also happens to have a ridiculously cheesy sense of humor, an adorable laugh, and a loving charm. He is all around the best.
I have been blessed with a marriage full of learning, laughter, and fun, but perhaps the best part about our marriage is the teamwork we have perfected over the years. No matter what, we are always on the same team, and we have learned how to use the best of both of us to make our marriage, and now our family, stronger. We have the same goals, and we both work equally hard to obtain them. We have been through many, many amazing times together, travelling, moving into our house that we love, spending time with family and friends, and just hanging out with one another. We have been through many many hard times, too, involving more fertility shots, miscarriages, and brain surgery appointments that I care to recall. Through it all, though, we have been each other's rock, and we have truly learned from it. The biggest lesson is to truly love with all that you have, and to feel blessed for all the things, good and bad, in your life. I hope as the years go on, we can continue to grow as a couple, and to do the best we can for our family and for one another.
For now, I will bask in the fact that, after 11 years, I am more in love with my husband than I ever could have dreamed. Cheesy, I know, but he deserves a little shout out, if you ask me.

Clapping and so big!

We have been working on teaching Leah how to clap when we say "YAY", and how to do "SO BIG". She is not quite getting it all yet, but she is having fun trying out the new motions. She is such a little giggle face!

Music in her blood?

I guess we won't know for awhile if Leah inherited the music gift, but, for now, we are having fun with her Daddy's guitar. She loves loves loves to listen to him play (Leah and I have that in common).

Ooooohhhhhh... she wants to move!

So, at eight and a half months, we do not yet have a crawler on our hands. She loves to move, and is very active and always busy... but no crawling yet. Guess what? NO complaints here! In a three story house, we are in no rush to have Leah super mobile.
With that being said, she is pulling herself to stand when in the right position, and army crawling and dragging herself all over the floor! She may not have figured out how to lift her mid-section for more than a minute or so, but she has figured out how to get across the floor. Will she crawl?  Go right to walking? Only time will tell, but we are having fun in the meantime.

She can't sit still for two seconds without investigating!

mid-army crawl!

She gets up on all fours, but can't figure out what to do when she gets there!

"Whatever, Mom, I got my toy."

True Love

There is nothing I can even say to sum up how I feel about  these two.

So, I will let the photo do the talking.
